I’m really getting into skincare and trying to find out what moisturizer is best for me. Recently, I’ve tried a few but they only keep my skin feeling good for a short time, maybe 30 minutes to a few hours, then it goes back to being dry. I tried Cetaphil but it didn’t help much and felt sticky. Hada Labo Premium worked for a few hours but then my skin dried out and I got some breakouts.
Is this normal? Does moisturizer really only give a quick boost? Does it help with long-term hydration and skin repair? If it does, is there proof that it helps keep my skin hydrated for longer or helps with aging?
Moisturizer does more than just provide short-term relief. A lot of research shows that moisturizing is really important, as well-hydrated skin helps produce collagen and elastin more effectively. It can speed up healing of small cuts, may help reduce scarring, protects your skin barrier, and keeps moisture in, which helps raise your natural hyaluronic acid levels.
What’s key is being consistent – use your moisturizer twice a day, every day.
