I second the suggestion about microneedling, and would add IPL laser to that.
But I’m far more concerned about your earlobes, and I’m not trying to be funny. When was your last physical exam from your doctor? The crease in your earlobes looks like Frank’s sign, which is surprisingly accurate for heart disease risk.

I never saw those changes in my earlobe. I will go through the preventive diagnosis as soon as possible. Thanks a lot for the heads-up
I don’t know if Medspas will perform IPL on you. I opted for chemical peel instead because IPL has higher risks for “ethnic” skin aka if you’re darker than a white person.
Yeah IPL can only be treated on the lightest, 4th of the population. IPL would burn him. A peel or something like Clear + Brilliant would be better
It’s not foolproof, and doesn’t mean you absolutely must have heart disease, but is useful and accurate enough that someone’s name got put on it. This is saying a lot for a seemingly random physical assessment finding correlating positively to cardiovascular disease.
It’s “accurate” enough that you confirming this is a change in your ears that you hadn’t noticed, would warrant a doctor’s visit and physical exam. Nothing invasive, nothing lost or gained except more information. So don’t worry excessively about this, but please please do follow up with your doctor.
Just wanted to thank you for putting this info out there. Taking my husband to the doctor ASAP.
you deserve the upvote for citing ncbi
Cureus case report tho Published =/= high quality evidence
Right, it’s about the lowest tier of “evidence” outside anecdotal observation
Thank you for saying this, I was panicking for a moment
Thank for this. My husband is calling his dr to schedule a physical now.
What about an ear lobe crease that goes slightly forward? I’m starting to see a lot of those on my friend’s ears. Is that also Frank’s sign or just normal aging?
“The number of individuals with moderate, high, or very high cardiovascular risk increased significantly as the presence of the crease increased (23.8% had no crease, 35.6% had unilateral creases, and 58% had bilateral creases.”
That’s so interesting Thanks for taking the time to educate and point that out.
okay this is absolutely freaking me out. I’ve had these creases for YEARS on both ears (I’m 35) and just had filler in the ear lobe area to address it! I had a physical last year with no concerns and am at a healthy BMI. Should I head to the doc?
It doesn’t mean you have heart disease, but that it can go along with it. Its not a gauranteed foolproof test. I would just keep on getting regular physicals and make sure you know your lab values like your blood lipid values. If they’re good and the trend is good over time, then you’re most likely fine. Doesn’t hurt to discuss this all with your doc!
thank you!! I appreciate you bringing this to my attention
It’s hypothesized and there is some evidence, but it is certainly not surprisingly accurate!
No, it’s not foolproof, but accurate enough that someone’s name got put on it. This is saying a lot for a seemingly random physical assessment finding correlating positively to cardiovascular disease.
It’s “surprisingly accurate” enough that OP confirming this is a change in his ears that he hadn’t noticed, would warrant a Dr’s visit and physical exam. Nothing invasive, nothing lost or gained except more information.
