Are glycolic acid body washes reliable?

I don’t have a specific product in mind, but I’m curious about glycolic acid washes. Are they worth buying? How does glycolic acid work if it’s just being immediately washed off?

I must say, this body wash has surpassed all my expectations. Initially, I had concerns that it might not offer a deep enough clean for my oily skin type, but I’m delighted to admit that my assumptions were misplaced!

I recently tried the Kosas one, and even after using it for a short while, I feel like it accomplishes nothing at all. To a certain extent, the First Aid Beauty scrub does the trick, however it seems to rely more on the particles than the acid. Glycolic acid lotions—Ameliorate, Nip+Fab, and Glow Recipe—have worked considerably better for me. This, I suppose, is because they have a real chance to get stuck in and work.

Ideally, though, you should wait a little while before washing it off.

However, I suspect that most body cleansers contain enough free acid to be really exfoliating, so I wouldn’t necessarily spend the money on one. There appears to be an intriguing psoriasis cleaner from CeraVe, however it appears to be exclusively sold online.
