Everything I read says not to, yet I have been treating a massive blind boil on my cheek using blue light and 1% retinol for 5 days, and it has not even significantly shrunk. Not sure what else to do? Will 1% hydrocortisone bite and sting cream make matters worse?
Hi, Hydrocortisone cream can provide temporary relief for cystic acne by reducing inflammation, redness, and swelling. However, it doesn’t address the root causes like hormonal imbalances or excess oil production. Its benefits are short-lived and won’t prevent future breakouts. Prolonged or excessive use of hydrocortisone cream can lead to skin thinning, exacerbate acne, or cause conditions like perioral dermatitis (a red, bumpy rash around the mouth and nose). Therefore, it’s advisable to use hydrocortisone sparingly and under medical guidance.
I suppose you really shouldn’t use it too frequently, but I’ve had luck with it in the past. I wear it anytime I have a large honker, and it helps.
