In general, La Roche Posay against Cerave products?

Hello everyone, is there anyone among you who prefers one to the other? I’m also interested in trying retinol, but I couldn’t decide which brand was superior. Any suggestions? Regards!

The CeraVe PM moisturizer is my holy grail, so much good stuff in it for such a great price point.

LRP definitely has more hero products, but is significantly more expensive where I live (Canada).

Agree with the commenter above that noted neither have a a great retenoid!

Both are owned by L’Oreal, so their retinol ranges are bound to be reliable and stable (general rule of thumb when buying retinol - go for an established brand).

LRP has better sunscreen (in fact, some of the most reliable sunscreens on the market).

CeraVe I like for their bland, simple formulations.

I don’t think CeraVe’s formulations are actually simpler than LRP. It’s just that CeraVe markets their products according to skincare concerns in a more straightforward way than LRP. Needing to choose between 2 CeraVe cleansers, one for dry skin and one for oily, while not knowing what “Effaclar”, “Lipikar”, etc. means, goes a long way, and indeed makes you think the formulations themselves are simpler. This doesn’t make them better than LRP for me, though.

LRP, although I was never happy with their basic moisturizers (not enough lipids for my dry skin). Love their sunscreens and Toleriane eye cream (although they’ve recently reformulated it, and I haven’t tried the new version yet). And Cicaplast B5 is a must have ofc. As for Cerave… their moisturizers tend to leave a film-y feeling on my face, which I don’t like. Their cleansers are also meh (the hydrating one doesn’t really cleanse, the foaming one dries out my skin, didn’t test others). I prefer SVR or Bioderma.

As for retinol… I like Geek&Gorgeous retinal. Their vitamin c is also awesome. And if you have dry skin - Happier Barrier moisturizer is great.

LRPs is too expensive for me and I can’t justify purchasing most of their products (their Vit c serum is £50 that’s insane)

But their sunscreen? Although it’s 25 quid, it’s my go-to. The only sunscreen I’ve found so far feels good on the skin but leaves 0 white cast, which is perfect for my coloured skin. Highly recommend their sunscreen.

LRP is defiently better, their sunscreen line alone makes them the gold standard for skincare

As for retinol, none of them. Retinol is often unstable, the lrp has a dropper packaging which is a no to me. Cerave and paulas choice have been part of some independent tests and shown to be unstable

Obagi retinol is the only one I know to be stable
