Is my Dermasil from Dollar Tree counterfeit?

A while ago, I fell and injured my knee. It’s healed up but has left some gnarly scars. I can’t afford medspa treatments to treat it, so I’ve been going the skincare route. If it works for my face, it should work for my knee, right?

I bought a bottle of Dermasil Labs Oil Free Night Cream with squalene, vitamin c, and vitamin e from Dollar Tree that I’ve been layering with a multi-vitamin serum (also from Dollar Tree) and covering with silicone scar sheets (again, DT found) and having incredible results.

I was looking over the Dermasil bottle today and noticed a few typos and it made me wonder if it’s counterfeit, but I can’t find anything online to double-check, so I decided to recruit Reddit

I’ve attached photos of the front and back of the bottle (I highlighted the typos), and the lot number is 0324A009A

Thank you!!

If you suspect it’s fake, go directly to the company, not Reddit.

"Name brand’ items are usually sold to dollar stores because they have a defect. In this case, the label most likely wasn’t proof read before production. Most popular stores have teams that make sure the products they sell aren’t counterfeit.

This was my other line of thought - that the typos deemed it “bad” so they sold them off to Dollar Tree. I can send a message to customer service, but I wanted to see if anyone here had any tips on looking up a lot number or anything to confirm its legitimacy. Thank you!

I went to a Dollartree for the first time last week and I thought to myself ‘Ouuf, this is some D stock.’ Haha.

You can google ‘cosmetic expiry’ and sites like Checkcosmetic have a search function when you type in the product code. But it’s usually for giant brands like L’Oreal, The Ordinary, etc. I use it when I go to Marshall’s and the like, to check codes before buying any skincare. One time I got a nice Biotherm cream for cheap and then found out it was 4 years old…

That’s a good tip! Big oof on the biotherm:sob::sob: I will happily use a legitimate product with a typo, and I’m a little less picked since I’m only using it on my knee and not my face, but of course I’d prefer it being legit in the end

Isn’t dermasil only sold at dollar tree?

If there are typos that is a dead giveaway that it is a counterfeit product

Not really. I am a copywriter who used to work for a brand that made products with typos reach the market all the time. They just didn’t give a fuck about my emails alerting the graphic designers about typos.

That’s what I suspected. That’s a bummer. Thank you!!

There are some truth to them, but the quality is so low. If you want like 10% effectiveness, for a 1/10 of the price. It’s for you. Dollar tree lotion stings my skin while a real lotion wouldn’t.

I’m putting a few extra dollars for comfort and health
