Oil cleansing/micellar water causing breakouts!

Hello all, I have been having an issue with trying to get rid of my sebaceous filaments for the past few months. I’ve tried double cleansing with oil cleansers, and they broke me out. I tried micellar water and even that broke me out. My skin is combination and feels pretty congested so I need something to consistently unclog the pores and reduce texture, but it seems like the products I’m using aren’t helping much.

Does anyone have any experience with breaking out with some oil cleaners/micellar waters but not others?? Or if these types of products break you out, is it best to just avoid them? Are there any other cleansing alternatives that help sebaceous filaments?

Details:

The oil cleanser I tried is the DHC deep cleansing oil

The micellar water is Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water

My baseline routine works well, just doesn’t get rid of texture. I use Paula’s choice aha/bha regularly, a gentle face wash and moisturizer.

Any help and advice is welcome!

UPDATE: Took the advice of a commenter and tried the Anua oil cleanser and my skin is healing so fast. Does not clog my pores or cause any irritation! I also have used cicaplast balm b5 the last two nights to ease a lot of the irritation and it has made a huge difference. My skin went from mega inflamed to the best it’s looked in months!! Thank you everyone!!

I found the DHC to be too heavy for my skin and it did irritate me. I’ve had better luck with oil cleansers from Shiseido, The Face Shop, Innisfree, Clinique, and Pharmacy. Be sure you’re only massaging the oil cleanser on for 30-60 seconds before rinsing completely and following with your water-based cleanser.

Thank you! I’ve seen people recommend using oil cleansers for 5-10 minutes. Is this just overkill and causing more irritation?

That often leads to irritation.

I tried a lighter oil and used your 30-60-second advice and it made a huge difference! Thank you!

Many oil cleanser broke me out so very badly. 20 or so pimples. It’s just too heavy. I have a combination (but maybe more oily) skin. The Anua oil cleanser works best for me. My skin is okay with Micellar water. I’ve tried Garnier and Nivea.

Anua doesn’t irritate me at all. Even now that I’m still dealing with the chaos caused by Manyo, I’m still using Anua, daily. The pimples are all healing, btw. Only about 2 left that are active.

Okay literally bought the Anua oil cleanser and have only used it for a couple of days and it is healing my skin SO FAST. Thank you thank you thank you :sob:
