Thank You Farmer Sunscreen at Costco?

It looks like Costco is currently carrying the Thank You Farmer Sun Project Water Sun Cream. I’m slightly surprised, because this sunscreen normally has a UV filter that isn’t approved for use in the US (Uvinul A Plus). The ingredients list on the website even shows it as included, though it is listed under the “inactive ingredients” section for some reason (Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate).

Does this sunscreen have a different formula for the US market, or are they selling the real deal with non-approved UV filters?

I looked on INCIDecoder and among the top ingredients are octinoxate, homosalate, octisalate, octocrylene, Uvinul A Plus, and titanium dioxide. Of those six UV filters, only Uvinul A Plus is not approved for the US. My guess is they simply won’t include it as an active ingredient on the US packaging.

Interesting, I didn’t think that was a choice. I’m surprised more US manufacturers don’t use this loophole to offer better UVA protection even if they don’t get to list it as an active.
