Tips to stop picking skin?

It’s quite difficult to stop at times when it seems hopeless.

I can spend hours plucking at my body and face.

Bandages are the only way I can stop. I put a physical barrier on the fingers I tend to pick at. I don’t keep 10 bandages on my hands all the time, but as soon as I start picking at one finger, I grab a bandage and cover it. It may not be the perfect solution and only a temporary fix, but it does help.

I just discovered today that taking NAC might help, so I’m planning to order some.

After 20 years, I’ve finally found that wearing fake press-on nails has completely prevented me from picking. It’s partly psychological and partly due to the physical difficulty. Psychologically, I want the nails to look nice, so I have to commit to that desire; otherwise, I might end up just ripping them off.
