What might lessen the itchiness of your skin after using a chlorinated pool?

In the event that you are somewhat sensitive to chlorine, what would you guys recommend for swimming? I went swimming and used a thin layer of Vaseline on my face before to entering the water, but even after washing my face and applying sunscreen, my skin remained extremely dry and itchy. I know that in hindsight it could have been preferable if I had thoroughly cleaned my face before using the Vaseline (I was wearing some makeup), but is there anything else that I could do to help?

For persistent itchiness, you can use an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream to reduce inflammation and itching.

Thought that you would know swimming in a chlorinated pool can expose you to irritant dermatitis.
Now this skin condition is caused by the sensitivity of skin when exposed to chlorine due to its ability to dry the skin.
One of the possible treatments should be showering immediately after a swim as water removes any trace chemicals and prevent them from drying out on your skin.

I’ve struggled with chlorine sensitivity myself and found that using Vaseline didn’t work well for me either. Instead, I recommend applying a water-resistant barrier cream or silicone-based swim mask, which can provide a better shield for sensitive skin. After swimming, use a gentle cleanser to remove chlorine and then apply a rich, hydrating moisturizer to restore moisture. Also, consider using a swim cap to minimize chlorine contact with your hair and scalp. Lastly, drinking plenty of water can help keep your skin hydrated from the inside out.
